Raw Trashpo from Cezar Ferreira

When we were hanging the Berry Maritime Mail Art exhibition, Cezar, Cranberry Island's own Brazillian chef at Hitty's, the cafe on the ground floor at the Historical Society, came upstairs to take a look at how things were progressing.  He was enthusiastic so I requested that he create something for the event, post it with Eilleen (postmistress) and be part of the event.  Cezar is a remarkable photographer, so I was expecting something in that domain. Instead, Cezar sent me some postcards he rescued from the dump on the island - creating this RAW TRASHPO!

My Garden & Under the Sea - Trashpo collage - Jan Moss

My MOTHER is a collage artist too. She also paints with plants.  These two pieces arrived today - a day after the 'official' deadline for this leg of exhibitions - but when have I ever followed rules?  

These beautiful gems have a Mexican feel, IMHO and Jan has managed to incorporate her garden, her wonderful beads, berries, the sea and salamanders. Note: no minks, mice or bats, though. The backs of these are (top) a lindt chocolate box and (bottom)  a colgate toothpaste box, so she's got a little trashpo going on and a bit of irony, maybe, with candy and dental paste? 

Definately better late than never. Can't wait for the two shows to be over so I can frame a few of my favourite things!

Paci Oce berry Maritime Mail Art from Meeah Williams

I found this wonderful envelope from Meeah Williams along with another one, on my arrival in Maine! I always find the variety, and the obvious time spent composing her mail art, astounding.  These two are no exception. who knew sea creatures cou;d have so many adventures and so mcuh to say!

I think Carina Granlund is cleaning up the sea! An ecologist came to Cranberry and told my friend audrey that he'd been to a beach where what looked like sand was in fact plastic! It looks like she's got lots of help, may even be recruiting DKulters to help...
